Style: Our elevated location produces pink grapefruit character with concentration and mid-palate texture. Monterra Sauvignon Blanc’s flavours reflect low yields, cool early morning harvesting and perfect ripeness.
Vintage: 2018 was a fine growing season, with warm days balanced by consistently cool nights. It was a relatively dry season with grapes ripening a touch earlier than usual. The first Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in the middle of February and the last coming in the first week of March. Weather conditions prior to harvest were also mostly dry, ensuring perfectly healthy fruit.
Source: The core of the blend comes from our own estate vineyard at Monterra Road, at the southern end of the Adelaide Hills, high above Willunga, a township of the McLaren Vale region. This is complemented with fruit from a small number of highly valued growers who understand our obsessive insistence on perfectly ripe healthy grapes, low yields and harvesting at precisely the right time.
Taste Note: Lively and aromatic with notes of passion fruit, nashi pear and nettles. This wine presents with intense flavour, a fresh lime infused fruit, mouth-watering acidity and a cleansing purity. It is crisp, dry to the palate and unoaked to maintain freshness.
Cellaring: Monterra Sauvignon Blanc is best enjoyed young, fresh, and well-chilled. Drink within 18-24 months of bottling.
